Mikel Alonso is enthusiastic about the possibility of playing for Bolton next season, according to his agent.
The 27-year-old's representative, Inaki Ibanez, is currently in Bolton discussing a possible move.
'Bolton have shown an interest in Mikel but no agreement has been reached yet between the clubs,' Ibanez said.
'I am trying to negotiate what possibilities there are for Mikel to play here next season.'
Mikel, brother of Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, had a trial with the Trotters during their pre-season training trip to Austria last week.
'Mikel is really enthusiastic about the possibility of playing next season in the Premier League,' said Ibanez. 'It would allow him to be closer to his brother Xabi and be able to play in the UEFA Cup.'
Mikel Alonso made his Primera Liga debut for Sociedad back in 2001 and has been a regular for the Basque outfit.
Real Sociedad - now managed by former Fulham boss Chris Coleman - were relegated to the Segunda Liga last season for the first time in 40 years.
