Reports in The Sun claim that Argentinean midfielder Aldo Duscher is to travel to Newcastle United for a trial period, in a bid to secure a contract.
If the ex-Deportivo La Coruna man impresses, he will be available on a free transfer, with his contract at the Spanish club having expired this summer.
Duscher is better known as the man behind the great metatarsal debacle, having broken David BeckhamÂ’s foot in a challenge during a league match between Deportivo and Real Madrid. The injury caused panic in England, as Beckham, then captain of the national squad, struggled to regain fitness before the 2002 World Cup.
Duscher has been capped for his country four times, and has spent time in Argentinean, Portuguese and Spanish football, where he played for Deportivo 157 times in seven years.
