SINGAPORE : Home United finally rid themselves of their Woodlands Wellington jinx with a 4-2 win in an NTUC Income-Yeo's S.League 2007 match at the Bishan Stadium on Monday night.
A Kengne Ludovick hat-trick helped the Protectors post their first win over the Rams this year, after successive losses in the SingTel League Cup, the RHB Singapore Cup and in an earlier S.League encounter.
Home defender Diakite Fode Bangaly opened the scoring in the 37th minute following a blunder by Rams goalkeeper Fadhil Salim, who let the weak shot squirm under his body.
Ludovick then gave the Protectors a 2-0 lead on the stroke of half-time and the Cameroon striker netted his second in the 58th minute.
Woodlands fought back gamely, first through a 61st minute Laakkad Abdelhadi penalty, and then a Lucian Dronca header with 11 minutes to go.
But three minutes from time, any hope the visitors had of completing the comeback ended when Ahmad Latiff was shown a red card for shoving referee S. Kumar.
As Latiff trooped off - kicking one of the signboards along the way - Ludovick sealed the Home win with a last-minute strike.
