Colombian goalkeeper Rene Higuita has decided to return to football after accepting a proposal from Venezuelan side Guaros de Lara.Higuita, who retired in 2001, is famous for his spectacular 'scorpion kick' performed during a 1995 England international at Wembley the eccentric goalkeeper cleared a Jamie Redknapp long ball with an astonishing piece of skill.
The 40-year-old has scored a remarkable 41 goals during his career, 37 coming from the penalty spot and four from free-kicks.
Higuita said: "This is a new challenge in my life, what I most like to do is to play football. I was saying lately that I was retiring because of unemployment and not because I am not able to play.
"I am very happy for the chance that I have been given by Guaros and I am travelling at once to Cucuta where they are doing the pre-season work."
Higuita's new side will compete in the Premier Division next season due to the league now involving 18 teams instead of 12.
