Cristian Chivu is expected to make the switch from Roma to Internazionale within the next few days.
Reports in Italy state that it will only be a matter of time before the move takes place.
Negotiations between the two clubs appeared to have collapsed just a few days ago, but are now reportedly back on again with an agreement being reached to take the Romanian defender to the Nerazzurri for a fee of €15million.
It is also rumoured that the player has decided to cut his salary from €5.5million to €4.5million a season in a five-year deal with Inter.
Talks are set to continue with the final details expected to be confirmed on Wednesday when Massimo Moratti will meet Rosella Sensi at the Italian League's regular meeting.

Chivu Will Sign For Inter, Girlfriend Reveals
Cristian Chivu is a couple of signatures away from completing his dream move to Inter, and out of all people it was the Romanian defenderÂ’s TV presenter girlfriend who broke the news.
“Cristian wil join Massimo Moratti’s club for 15m Euro,” Adelina Elisei revaled to Romanian TV channel Antena Tre.
“His will was decisive, he even agreed to lower his wage demands. He will earn 4.8m Euro rather than 5.8m Euro per season, but he will sign a five-year deal rather than a four-year one.”
Neither Roma nor Inter were prepared to comment on the authenticity of the claim but, assuming that it is in fact true, then this would effectively signal the end of one of the most protracted and ill-tempered transfer wrangles of the summer.
Since it first became apparent that the Nerazzurri and Chivu had eyes for each other, Roma refused to budge on their valuation for the player and even encouraged Barcelona and Real Madrid to join an auction.
The 26-year-old became public enemy #1 in Rome after his refusal to join Real in light of a pact with Inter - the fear amongst the Gialorossi fans being that his illicit love affair with their northern rivals would convince him to sit out the final year of his contract at the Olimpico, only to leave on a free transfer and thus effectively cost the club 18 million Euros in lost transfer fees.
If and when Chivu’s girlfriends comments are confirmed, this would arguably represent the most favourable – and conversely also least messy – resolution for all involved all things considered.
