Sunderland could turn their attentions to Middlesbrough keeper Mark Schwarzer if they fail to land £10m-rated Craig Gordon from Hearts.
Schwarzer still has a year to run on his current contract at the Riverside Stadium but speculation has mounted over his future as he has yet to pen a new one.
Schwarzer could still stay on Teesside but reports claim Black Cats boss Roy Keane could test Boro's resolve by making a cash offer for the Australia international.
Keane still hopes to land top target Gordon, but if he cannot agree a fee with the Jambos then he will have to turn his attentions elsewhere and Schwarzer could be an option.
Exciting what Sunderland can do in the coming season...
