Inter Milan have confirmed they have finally completed a deal to sign Romanian defender Cristian Chivu on a five-year deal from Roma.
The 26-year-old has finally put pen to paper for the Serie A champions to end a long-running transfer saga.
Chivu had announced on Friday he would be leaving Roma, and arrived in Milan later that evening to seal the deal.
A statement on Inter's official website: "F.C. Internazionale is pleased to announce that Cristian Eugen Chivu has signed a five-year contract with the club until 30 June 2012.
"The 26-year-old Romanian defender, who put pen to paper following his arrival in Milan just after 23:30 on Friday evening, joins Inter on a permanent deal with Italian defender Marco Andreolli moving to Roma on a co-ownership deal."
Chivu himself was delighted to finally be joining the Scudetto holders following months of speculation about the transfer.
"Inter are the strongest team in Italy," the Romanian said.
"I'm tired because of the trip, but very happy to be in Milan at last. It ended how I wanted it to. I can't wait to meet president (Massimo) Moratti now."

Roma is stupid. They have just sold their defensive lynchpin to one of their main rivals.
