Sunderland boss Roy Keane insists he is not worried about talks over a new deal stalling.
The Black Cats are keen to reward Keane with a new long-term deal following his stunning success in his first season in management last term.
Keane's lawyer Michael Kennedy has held informal talks with Sunderland officials about extending the Irishman's contract.
Former Manchester United star Keane is not concerned about any delay in negotiations and insists he is fully committed to Sunderland.
"There's been talks with Michael but it's all very casual," Keane told the Daily Star.
"I don't know what the current situation is because I've not spoken to Michael for a while but there's no rush.
"I could have a conversation next week and if it feels right I will look to do it."
Keane, who has still two years to run on his current deal, believes he has done nothing yet to warrant a new contract.
"I've never been in a rush to sign extensions. In any case I have a hell of a lot to prove," added Keane.
"I am committed to Sunderland and I don't need to sign a long-term contract to show that.
"If you get a few extra bob and a couple more years, then you can relax too much and, if we lose the first 10 games, I know I will be back walking my dog full-time.
"There are still two years to go. I'm on a good contract and I'm not short of a few bob."
