The prospect of Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer being on the same team again is a scary proposition given their infamous fight during their days together at Newcastle, however, the scenario is now a real possibility. Bowyer, who has gained a reputation for being controversial during his career, unforgettable scrapped with Dyer during a defeat to Aston Villa in 2005. Both players were sent off and later punished, but Bowyer is not concerned at the incident and insists he is a changed man.
"We're fine now,'' he said. ''Back then when it happened, it was just a crazy moment but I honestly don't have any worries about it at all now.
''Admittedly, when I was younger I made many mistakes but now I'm older, I just want to keep myself to myself."
The 30-year-old is now hoping West Ham manage to win the race to sign Dyer, who appears set to leave Newcastle for reported family reasons.
Bowyer added: "He's a great player, another international, and I think that if he comes to West Ham the competition he would bring would be very good for the squad. He can play anywhere across the middle and as a striker, so why not go for him? Let's wait and see what happens."
