Rafael Van der Vaart has reiterated his desire to join Real Madrid, but they are the only club that he would consider leaving Hamburg for.
The Dutch international is a target for Bernd Schuster and he has not hidden his long-held ambition to play for los Merengues.
"I will continue to play for Hamburg next seson unless I receive a call from Real Madrid," he said.
Two months ago, the former Ajax first announced that he was attracted by the idea of playing in Spain and after Schuster's recent delcarations he has gone public once again.
"Van der Vaart is a very interesting player. This is why he is on my list," the Madrid coach stated.
"We know how much he is worth and if we decide to buy him we will succeed," he was quoted as saying in AS.
Van der Vaart has family reasons for wanting to play in la Primera too as his grandparents on his mother's side are from Chiclana, Cádiz.
The 24-year-old regularly visits his family in Andalucia and has been told that they would like to see him playing in Spain to be nearer to them.
Those ties could be crucial if Madrid do make a concrete move for the player.
