Neville a target for Sam

SAM ALLARDYCE is ready to continue overhauling his Newcastle team by launching a £4million bid for Everton skipper Phil Neville.
The Newcastle boss wants the England international to bolster his side and is ready to test EvertonÂ’s resolve to retain the versatile 30-year-old by making a firm offer.
Allardyce has a long-standing admiration for Neville, and has received backing from chairman Chris Mort.
NewcastleÂ’s interest is unlikely to be welcomed at Goodison Park, where manager David Moyes is desperately attempting to add to his own pool of players rather than trim what is already one of the smallest squads in the Premier League.
Everton are trying to complete an £8m deal for Manuel Fernandes from Benfica, while Moyes retains a strong interest in Middlesbrough striker Yakubu.
Neville was signed for £3.5m from Manchester United in August 2005 and has been a virtual ever-present in the side and taking over the captaincy last season.
Allardyce publicly bemoaned the shortage of experienced Premier League players available at the weekend – but now wants Neville to join his Tyneside revolution. -

Didn't you know that the new owener of Newcastle didn't check the books before making a rushed buy? Cos he didn't want their previous chairman to know that he was making a hostile takeover that he bought his shares on the quiet from its other directors... They have also released quite a number of players on the free like Olivier Bernard, Craig Moore, Titus Bramble, Antoine Sibierski, Alan O'Brien and even sold Scott Parker to WH... And have only brought in Joey Barton, David Rozehnal, Jose Sanchez Enrique & Alan Smith... The rest were free signings as well like Mark Viduka & Claudio Cacapa. -

but back to my point. with sam, the ARE going to get results. balancing the books is one thing but you need to spend to spend to achive that. sucess wont happen over night. it will take a few seasons. and where wil the players like neville be?? most likely transferred out or playing in the reserves. if just feel that they shouldnt take such a cautious approach just based on previous owner experience but rather take a fresh start. the money will come slowly but surely -
