Spurs are reportedy set to step up their bid to sign West Brom defender Curtis Davies after Younes Kaboul joined their injury list.
Spurs boss Martin Jol has been on the trail of Davies for the last 18 months but have been unable to agree a fee with the West Brom for their captain.
Tottenham have offered £8 million for the 22-year-old while the Baggies want around £10 million, but Spurs are said to be ready to make another bid after Kaboul joined the growing injury list at White Hart Lane in Tuesday's dismal 3-1 home defeat to Everton.
Kaboul lasted just 18 minutes of his home debut before being forced off with a hamstring strain to join fellow defenders Ledley King, Michael Dawson and Gareth Bale in Totttenham's busy treatment room.
After defeats in the opening two games of the new season, Jol could be forced to face Derby on Saturday with just four fit fit defenders, but he insisted that his side will bounce back after their disappointing display against Everton in which they were booed off at half-time.
Jol said: "I feel as rotten as I felt on Sunday. We will do better, I am certain of that. It is a kick in the teeth but we will bounce back."
