Tottenham have been linked with a move for Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, who has been pinpointed as the man to add some sparkle to their midfield.
Spurs are bottom of the Premier League after losing to Sunderland and Everton and have lacked creativity as they have attempted to fashion chances for their misfiring strikeforce.
Van der Vaart joined the Bundesliga side from Ajax two years ago and was wanted by Juventus and Valencia in the summer.
Hamburg rejected bids of £10million, however, so Spurs will have to pay at least £12m to capture the influential Holland international according to a report in The Sun.
The 24-year-old, who has scored eight times in 41 appearances for his country, also interested Aston Villa last season.
