Gerrard blasts Styles

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard accused referee Rob Styles of cracking under pressure from Chelsea players after he awarded the Blues a highly-controversial penalty in the 1-1 draw at Anfield.
Fernando Torres repaid some of his massive transfer fee with the opener for Liverpool in the first half, but they were denied all three points after Frank Lampard's controversial second half penalty.
Lampard scored from the spot after Steve Finnan was controversially adjudged to have fouled Florent Malouda even though it looked like the Frenchman jumped into the defender
Asked if his side deserved to win, Gerrard told Sky Sports 1: "I think so. I think a very, very unfair decision has got Chelsea a point today. But I think we proved today we are capable of challenging.
"I felt the referee didn't play well today. There was a lot of pressure from the Chelsea players and I thought he eventually cracked." -
Benitez Fumes At 'Unbelievable' Penalty Decision
Benitez, struggling to restrain himself, told SkySports: "I think it was a mistake.
"Unbelievable. How can you change a game like this?"
Asked if he questioned Styles about the decision after the match, Benitez said: "No. It is clear, he can watch the video. He may understand why we are so disappointed. Unbelievable. "
However, Liverpool's Spanish manager was still able to take positives from a keenly contested match.
"We had some chances against a very good team. The game was under control but this kind of decision, you cannot explain.
"Maybe he was under pressure all the time. I prefer not to say too much." -
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho opted to stay out of the penalty debate.
"This season I'm not here to make a comment on other managers' opinions," he insisted.
"I haven't seen the replay of the incident and it was difficult to make out what was happening at the time.
"Rafa has his opinion and I have mine. I judged the game to be a good and a fair one." -
Did Rob Styles gave Essien 2 yellow cards? I seriously believe Essien also thought so by the looks of his face... Rob Styles... Rob Styles... One useless ref...

Though it looked like he given it to Essien.

as in most games gerrard was everywhere. lampard did not make his presence felt until he scored the penalty. -

Rob Styles has discredited himself for everyone to see... He took out his card from his pocket and flash it to Terry then kept it back into his pocket... About 30 seconds later when Terry was long gone by now and Essien was nearest to him for dissent... he took out his card again from his pocket and flash it towards Essien's direction after their discussion... You could actually see Essien put his hands on his head and kind or accepted the shock decision...
My only wonder is when and why does a referee need to take out his card from his pocket to flash to the same player 2 times? I have never seen this happen before... this is a first...
Styles has probably scored an own goal and tried to cover it up like what Charlton Palmer said by lying... -

how come refereeing standards nowadays so low? but i heard they will be implementing the replay system to see if the ball crossed the goal line, a la tennis. so hopefully there will be less controversy over this all important decision. -

The Chelsea boss claimed referee Rob Styles was right to award the Blues a hotly disputed second-half penalty at Anfield.
Styles harshly adjudged Steve Finnan to have fouled Florent Malouda inside the box even though it appeared that the Chelsea winger had made the most of the challenge.
But Mourinho jumped to the defence of the French international and insisted he had done nothing wrong.

"I have not seen it on TV so I was 30 metres away," Mourinho told The Sun.
"Malouda opens his legs to let the ball run and he is brought down from behind - I think it's a penalty.
"Do you think my players surround the referee? I have a naive team. We do not have any divers, no violent people, we do not have any nasty tackles. It's a pure team."
But an angry Benitez responded after the 1-1 draw by saying: "If that's the case then I'm Little Red Riding Hood!
"You can check his team and I think how many times they do and say the things they say they don't do.
"There have been a lot situations in the last three years. The players were talking to the ref the whole time."
And the Liverpool boss felt Styles had got it wrong when he awarded Chelsea their second-half penalty: "I want to have respect for the referee but only he can explain - but he will not be able to explain properly.
"There were 45,000 people here and they could not see a penalty. That is why Jose Mourinho could not see it." -

no, it isn't a penalty, so it was lucky in chelsea's point of view.
almost everyone knows its not a penalty so i don't know what is your purpose of asking, but jose has to defend his team.
but then again, how many penalties given nowadays were actually not penalties? countless. its just so happens that this happened in a big match and the referee gave it. -

Jose just have to defend his charges so that they'll play their hearts out for him and i don't see why we should be talking about him, if anything, its supposed to be the ref who had messed up the show so the fingers should be directed to him and not Jose
