Sven-Goran Eriksson's promising start to his Manchester City managerial career has been dealt a blow by news that Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov will not play for "at least five months" after damaging knee ligaments in the Manchester derby. The club confirmed that 21-year-old Bojinov, whom Eriksson bought for a fee of around 5.75m from Italian club Fiorentina, suffered damage to his lateral and anterior cruciate ligaments of his left knee.
The Bulgarian striker fell awkwardly following an aerial challenge with Patrice Evra after just six minutes of his first start for the Sky Blues against Manchester United.
