Chelsea Strike 5.5M Belletti Agreement

Belletti had a reasonably good first two seasons at the Nou Camp after moving from Villarreal in a swap deal involving Jose Reina in 2004. In fact, he wrote himself into Barcelona's history books in May 2006, when he scored the winner against Arsenal in the Champions League final.
However, he has since been demoted to the bench due to the arrival of Gianluca Zambrotta from Juventus, and was keen on a move away in order to get more first team chances.
That he will get at Chelsea, who actually played Michael Essien at right-back against Liverpool last weekend. A 5.5 million euro deal has been struck, and the 31-year-old is expected to sign a three year contract at Stamford Bridge later today.
He has won two La Liga titles and the Champions League with Barcelona, as well as the 2002 World Cup with Brazil. -
honestly he isnt impressive.... barca fullbacks are quite poor.

Chelsea have agreed a deal with Barcelona for Brazilian full-back Juliano Belletti. Jose Mourinho has turned to Belletti after the Premier League club failed to strike a deal for Daniel Alves.
Sevilla had rejected Chelsea's recent bid for Alves, prompting Mourinho to move for the right-back's compatriot. Belletti is undergoing a medical with Chelsea and will discuss personal terms over a move to Stamford Bridge.
He has slipped out of Frank Rijkaard's first-team plans at Camp Nou, with Gianluca Zambrotta currently preferred by Barca. -

I think they are asking too much from a 31-year-old who has never play in the epl before let alone in the first team of his current club...
But my guess is they may actually buy both of them in the end, this guy as cover. -

Oh this guy is going to have his hands full this sat if he starts... Portsmouth's Utaka is a very speedy left winger... Belletti would have hope that he could have an easier start to his chelsea career... I think blues fans must be hoping that he won't make Boulahrouz look good...
Anyway its a home match, so at least Portsmouth won't be too adventurous... -
You can say that Roman probably never like jose since their cold war started and probably would never forgive jose for going around talking nonsense... Such rich and powerful guy don't normally forget things so easily... They will wait for the right moment to get back. My guess is jose still have 3yrs to his contract at $5m a yr and sacking him now would have cost $10m and above in compensation alone. So why not let him stay as if he can't do the job...
