Yakubu's Everton move hits snag

Everton's bid to sign Middlesbrough's Nigerian striker Yakubu for £11.25m has encountered a hitch after the 24-year-old was refused a work permit.
He opted out of playing for Nigeria in 2006, so fails to meet the Home Office requirement of playing in 75% of his country's games in the last two years.
Everton have appealed against the home office decision and will hear the result on Wednesday. -

He can, cos he qualifies for the work permit before joining Boro, which means he's eligible to work till his contract ends. Unless Boro is extending his contract,in which they will have to extend his work permit.Originally posted by dragg:does that mean he cant play for boro too?

Toffees agree Yakubu switch
YAKUBU has become Everton's record signing after completing an £11.25million switch from Portsmouth. The ex-Middlesbrough and Pompey hitman, 24, has penned a five-year deal at Goodison Park.
Yakubu's work permit was approved today after his initial application was refused. The Nigerian international said: "I am happy to be here. "It is a great feeling to come over and meet a lot of good players and see the spirit they have. "I have always said that I want to play for a club with European ambitions. "They have the desire to move forward and want to play in the Champions League — and for me that is my dream." -
His value keeps soaring. I hope Moyes uses him well. Dont treat him like Beattie.
