West Ham make £5m bid for Shorey

West Ham have made a £5m bid for Reading's England left-back Nicky Shorey, BBC Radio 5live understands.
Shorey, 26, made his England debut against Brazil at Wembley at the end of last season.
He has been linked with Newcastle, but West Ham are favourites to clinch a deal after talks on a new contract at Reading stalled.
West Ham, however, may need to increase their offer to about £6m to persuade Reading to sell Shorey. -
Nooo!! Shorey will have his future ruined by joining West Ham. He should choose Newcastle instead.

Irons fail in £4m move for Shorey
Coppell has vowed to hold on to Shorey and insisted the 26-year-old is still on course to play against the Hammers on Saturday rather than for them.
He said: "I cannot deny there was a written offer made.
"Given the price of players today we thought it was nigh on a derisory offer. We turned it down immediately and we have had no contact since."
