ARJEN ROBBEN has put the boot into Jose Mourinho by insisting he escaped to Real Madrid to play “attractive” football. Chelsea boss Mourinho is under fire from owner Roman Abramovich after orders to crank up the entertainment value of his side. Russian tycoon Abramovich left the directors’ box And Robben has added to Mourinho’s troubles by declaring he will not miss Chelsea’s brand of football following his £24.5million switch to Real. The Dutch winger 23, said: “I will enjoy it more over here. Maybe this is a style of play that suits me better. “Real Madrid are a team and the coach said he wants to play attacking, attractive football — so that all sounds very good to me.” Real turned on the type of style Abramovich craves with a storming 5-0 La Liga win at Villarreal hours after Chelsea crashed at Villa.
Robben is yet to make his debut as he works his way up to peak fitness after a knee problem but he vowed to put on a show once he starts playing. He added: “I think I can be important to the team. As a left winger, you are there to score goals and, hopefully, I can do that. “It’s been decided I’d do an extra pre-season to give me more time to get used to it here and to adapt and to make myself very strong, so when I start I can show everybody the player I am. “I had a little bit of bad luck last year. I had surgery on my knee and I couldn’t really come back properly because the season was finished. “I started again with Chelsea in pre-season but things were fluid so the pre-season was not the best. “And of course the situation with Real Madrid — going or staying — is not good for you or for your body.”
