Fabio Capello would relish the chance to coach a national team, but has ruled out speculation he will succeed Roberto Donadoni as Italy boss.
Donadoni, who took over the Azzurri when Marcello Lippi resigned after leading Italy to World Cup glory last year, is under pressure going into this week's Euro 2008 qualifiers with France and Ukraine.
Capello has not worked since being dismissed by Real Madrid in the summer, but now he admits he would like to take the reins of a national side.
Asked what job he would like, he said: "(To work on) the bench of a national team."
Asked if the Italy team would appeal to him, Capello, who coached Donadoni as a player at AC Milan, said: "No. Absolutely not.
"The coach is good and young. Let him work in peace."
