Barcelona may block striker Samuel Eto'o from being involved in the African Cup of Nations next year.
Eto'o, who missed a large part of last season because of injury, will be sidelined for the next two to three months after surgery on a torn thigh muscle.
Barcelona want to ensure Eto'o is fully fit for the second half of the season and could demand that he does not play for Cameroon.
"He must first play for Barcelona before the other teams," president Joan Laporta told the club's official website.
The 2008 African Cup of Nations takes place in Ghana between 20th January and 10th February.
