AC Milan midfielder Kaka has been handed a new five year contract in order to tie him down to the club.
The Corriere dello Sport suggest that AC Milan have decided to increase Kaka's salary by 3 million euros per annum in order to keep Real Madrid at bay.
The Brazilian was earning 5 million euros at Milan, and had four yeard to rin on his contract, but has now been handed an 8 million per annum deal through to 2012.
Silvio Berlusconi had admitted after the Super Cup that a new contract was due.
"Kaka deserves a pay rise, so we will happily give that to him," he had said.
"We have to be careful, though, as there has to be a balance within the club and locker room for all the players."
If true, this will make Kaka the highest paid player in Serie A by some distance.
