Italy have returned to the top of the FIFA World Rankings after their impressive 2-1 Euro 2008 qualifying victory in Ukraine last week.
Argentina remain in second place, while the top five is completed by European rivals Germany and Holland. France fall to sixth after a disastrous last couple of games, which saw them disappoint in a 0-0 draw with Italy and fall to a shock 1-0 home defeat to Scotland.
Of the British nations, EnglandÂ’s improvement under Steve McClaren sees them rise to ninth while ScotlandÂ’s historic victory in Paris pushes them up to 14th.
