Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has stated that the Bianconeri will soon return to the winning machine they were before the Calciopoli scandal but has warned the fans they have to be patient.
The Turin-giants were relegated for their part in the scandal and handed a heavy pointÂ’s penalty. This led to numerous world-class players such as Fabio Cannavaro, Lilian Thuram, Patrick Vieira and Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaving the club.
La Vecchia Signora immediately returned to Serie A at the first attempt but are now beginning to feel the loss of so many high-profile players. Buffon admits it will take time for the Bianconeri to grow again but is certain they will soon become the force they once were.
“The important values of Juventus have remained,” said Buffon. “Throughout our history we have succeeded and excelled because of these values. This year of course we will lose some games but it is not the end of the world, we will soon return to our winning-ways.
“It is just necessary to have a bit of patience and understand that we can’t start winning trophies immediately. The fans should understand that all we need is a bit of patience.”
