Why would anyone who follows EPL be surprised at Mourinho's departure? There is nothing to MOURn about. Whether sacked or not, the parting is a matter of time. The writings were all over the dressing room walls. The last 4 games of poor performance clearly showed that things have taken for the worst before the start of the season. I don't think the last few games led to his sacking or otherwise. RA had already planned for all this when he got the Israeli coach in. How could a soccer coach who earns 5 million pounds a year beat the man who bought the club for 350 million pounds? It would take Mourinho 70 years to beat him!
Let's face it. When you are damn good as a coach who could bring Chelsea the trophies it has never kissed for 100 years - you don't want people to interfere with you, not even the BOSS. But if the boss wants to be a player and who also wants his favourite godson Chev to play too despite being unable to kick a ball, you know you are up against a situation that is tougher than a 10-man defensive wall. So, it is a no winner for 'the special one'. This is the morale of the story. Nothing new - you hear and see this in everyday real life - at the workplace, in every organisation, in every society.
What is a loss to Chelsea will be a gain for another club. Place your bet! -
football is always unpredictable, who knows some time after this, RA might actually convince a top coach to manage Chelsea? It will take some time for Chelsea players to settle down, since Mourinho is the one that made the club into one of the best in the business, players like cech, drogba, essien, lamps and so on all respect him and recgonise the success he has brought to the club. However leaving the club just because of the coach is not neccasary so, maybe for a few players that might be true.for example cavarlho?cech? players that mourinho brought in. who knows? maybe when he gets a new job, he will buy those players to his new club too! but definitely, this few months will be a rough patch for chelsea, somehow similar to that of real madrid when they sacked several coaches in a row. they will be struggling to find their form until they get a winning coach.

Chelsea isnt so prestigious but still money is a big factor. RA will still be able to build his team even after mourinho and any big players leave.

Deschamps carries Blues job hope
Didier Deschamps has told Chelsea he is "free and on the market" in case they see new boss Avram Grant as a "stand-in" at Stamford Bridge.
The Frenchman, nicknamed 'the water-carrier' during his playing career with Les Bleus, spent a season playing for Chelsea and was linked with the manager's job before Mourinho was appointed in 2004.
Deschamps, currently out of work, is unsure how long Grant will be at the helm and has declared that he would consider an offer from the club.
"If you find a manager who would not be interested in Chelsea, then show me who it is," Deschamps told radio station RMC Info. "I am free, on the market, but as Avram Grant has been named, the question is not topical.
"I do not know whether he is there as a stand-in or not. We'll have to see in the future." -
Warnock: Was Abramovich Jealous Of Mourinho?
Ex-Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock, now working for Setanta, wonders whether Chelsea's owner Roman Abramovich was jealous of the celebrity and popularity of Jose Mourinho, prompting the manager's exit this week.
Warnock says he was stunned when he heard that Mourinho had agreed to leave the Blues.
Speaking to SunSport, he said: "I'm personally disappointed Jose has left Chelsea as he's been a big asset to the game.
"I don't think there are enough personalities like him in football.
"Some people thought Mourinho saw himself as bigger than the club — but I don't think that was the case.
"Personally, I think Roman Abramovich has made a mistake.
"That said, the situation Chelsea were in when Abramovich arrived was dire and he turned it around.
"But with club owners and chairmen, when they put all the money in and the manager gets all the credit, it can cause problems." -
Rafa has 'nothing to say' on Jose
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez kept his feud with Jose Mourinho going to the last by declining to offer any compliments about his Chelsea spell.
Benitez and the Portugese coach had made little secret of their animosity over the last few years, heightened by run-ins over Champions League semi-finals and his frequent comments that it was Roman Abramovich's billions that bought back-to-back Premier League titles for the west Londoners.
Even though Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger of the 'big four' have offered their sympathies for his departure, all Benitez would say was: "You know my relationship with him, it is better that I do not say anything.
"At the moment I am more worried about Birmingham boss Steve Bruce."
Benitez was known to be disappointed when his former assistant Paco Ayestaran was 'too friendly' with Mourinho after the clubs drew 1-1 at Anfield earlier this season.
That incident is believed to have been one of the reasons for the tensions between Benitez and Ayestaran coming to a head, with the latter having now left the club. -

Grant says he is in full control
New Chelsea boss Avram Grant insists he will be his own man after taking over from Jose Mourinho.
Grant, 52, said Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would not interfere in the football side of the club, despite his breakdown in relations with Mourinho.
Grant, who was the club's director of football, said his goal was to win titles with attractive football.
"I'm a person of my own. I've taken all my decisions in football on my own. If we lose, it's down to me," he said.
"I have full respect for what Jose Mourinho did in the past and I want to follow this success and make things of my own.
"But football is also entertainment. We need to win games and win trophies but we need to play positive football."
Mourinho stepped down by mutual consent and was quickly replaced by Grant, who will continue to work with Steve Clark as assistant manager.
Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck denied that Israeli Grant was appointed because he was a personal friend of Abramovich.
"Roman Abramovich doesn't make important appointments on a whim or because someone is a friend," said Buck.
"He's a very successful businessman and in conjunction with the board this was a thoughtful decision and was based on merit.
"When we offered this job to Avram on Wednesday he wanted assurances that he was his own man and he was in charge of the team.
"Myself, Peter [Kenyon], Eugene [Tenenbaum, Chelsea director] and Roman Abramovich were all in the room and we all agreed 100% that he is in charge."
Grant has yet to be offered a formal contract but Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon insists the appointment is on a "permanent" basis.
Chelsea's first test under Grant comes on Sunday when his side travel to current Premier League champions Manchester United. -

Grant arrived at Stamford Bridge in July for 'liaison on, and co-ordination of' football matters, but he is now first-team coach, and his old job will not be filled for the time being.
Following Mourinho's departure on Thursday morning, Grant was swiftly appointed on a permanent basis but there has not even been time for him to sign a new contract.
Grant could not have asked for a tougher start, with Manchester United at Old Trafford tomorrow his first game, and Yom Kippur, the Jewish holiday, meaning he will not be working with his squad today.
The former Israel coach also has to win over sceptical Chelsea supporters who took Mourinho to their hearts after back-to-back Premier League titles during a colourful three seasons.
Mourinho famously called himself 'The Special One' but Grant has described himself as 'normal'.
'My wife says that I am special,' said the 52-year-old.
While Mourinho arrived in London after winning the Champions League with Porto, Grant has minimal European experience.
'I know there is possible and impossible,' he said. 'It's not easy but it's not impossible. Normally people don't expect you to be successful.
'I remember when Arsene Wenger came to England and they said Arsene who? I don't want to compare to him but he did a great job.'
Despite reports to the contrary, chief executive Peter Kenyon insisted the players were positive and supportive since Mourinho's departure.
He feels the club will be able to keep their best players.
'I am not concerned about there being a mass exodus in the summer,' said Kenyon.
'The players came out before training and made it clear they are supportive of moving forwards.'
Grant is a friend of owner Roman Abramovich but the club have insisted that the relationship has had no bearing on recent events.
'The criteria of what we need for a manager has changed because the club has changed,' explained Kenyon. 'The position of Chelsea has changed.
'I can honestly say one of the key criteria I was looking for (in 2004), what we hadn't got in the team, was an ethos of what a winning team was all about.
'It was really important for the person who came in. Jose came with those credentials.
'We have moved on. Chelsea today is a very different club. Its players are at a completely different level of those who were here three years ago.
'The results in the future will demonstrate we have taken the right decision.'
Kenyon added: 'I came here to do a job and was instrumental in bringing Jose to the club. What we talked about achieving I think Jose contributed unbelievably well to.
'I can assure you it was the right decision for him and the club to part company, as painful and difficult as that is. As unplanned as it was, that is the fact.' -

Axed Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho last night admitted: "I wish I had quit the club last season."
And the Special One revealed: "I had offers from other clubs at the end of last season, I wish I had left Chelsea then."
Mourinho received a staggering £12million pay-off from Roman Abramovich, a deal that included a gagging order restricting him from revealing what really happened behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge.
But that did not stop him aiming a bitter swipe at the Chelsea chiefs who axed him - by taunting: "You had no history until I arrived."
He is seething at the lack of gratitude shown by Abramovich and the Chelsea board for bringing the club back-to-back titles.
Mourinho touched a raw nerve by claiming Chelsea were a club with a "small history" - having won their only previous league title back in 1955.And the Special One claimed he does not care what happens to Chelsea in the future, despite his close bond with the Blues players.
Mourinho said: "My feelings are simple. Chelsea was a club with a small history, with frustration, without Premier League titles, until we arrived here and we won two titles.
"In my first year, we brought tears of joy because no one had seen Chelsea as English champions before and that formed a big part of the history of the club. The future of Chelsea doesn't interest me now. Win, lose, play well, buy, sell - it doesn't mean absolutely anything to me.
"The whole club was not a real club. We had fractures. Everyone has responsibilities. I am a man of war in competition. But in life I am a man of peace." -
i think what he said is true of that RA never come out to the press/media to show his gratitude to Mourinho's effort that resulted in Chelsea winning trophies. Such unappreciative attitude and willingness to turn his back on a reliable manager sucks. Honestly i dont see Avram Grant as capable of maintaining Chelsea's winning tradition, at least until he proves it.
