Inter defender Marco Materazzi is due in court after being accused of mishandling a German tourist's son.
The events allegedly took place at an Inter training camp in Cagliari after the World Cup winnerÂ’s own son, Gianmarco, got into an altercation with a German youngster.
Materazzi is due to appear before a tribunal to offer his version of events. The ex-Perugia centre-back claims that he merely gave the German youngster a ticking off after the boy hit his son. Materazzi is believed to have witnesses to support his theory.
Materazzi is not new to controversy. In the 2006 World Cup Final in Berlin he was infamously head-butted by Zinedine Zidane after verbally abusing the FrenchmanÂ’s mother. The 34-year-old has also received numerous red cards during his career.
