John Terry could take legal action after claims that he is a 'Judas' who betrayed Jose Mourinho.
Various reports have suggested that the Chelsea captain was the catalyst behind Mourinho's exit from the club.
The Observer in particular suggested that 'Mourinho holds Terry responsible for charges levelled by Chelsea's board of directors that he had lost the support of his playing staff'.
According to the Daily Express, this prompted Terry to text Mourinho three times in 24 hours before Sunday's clash with Manchester United to assure him that he had not stabbed his former boss in the back.
'Terry is so incensed that he has been fingered as the most powerful players' influence on the Chelsea board - who were informed on Wednesday that Mourinho "had lost the dressing room" - that he is now considering legal action,' claims the report.
There does seem to be some truth however in reports that the pair had a bust-up at half-time in the Rosenborg game.
Mourinho apparently pointed the finger at Terry for the conceded goal and Terry responded by saying: "Hold on a minute, how can you ******* say that, I'm having injections, and playing for you and the team, it's a ******* joke."
This was apparently the culmination of a deterioration in their relationship over the last six months, with Mourinho believing that Terry's form had dipped since his back injury.
