Which Club Is The Biggest Brand?

  On a day when Arsenal's chairman has mocked Chelsea's hopes of dominating World football we ask which club is the biggest brand across the globe?
  
  Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has previously explained his goal of making the Blues the leading football brand by 2014, but their hopes seem to be falling apart as the club experience numerous PR disasters.
  
  Today Peter Hill-Wood explained: "I don't want to run Chelsea down, but one has to concede Manchester United and Liverpool are probably the biggest names in UK football and probably throughout the world. For Chelsea to think they are suddenly going to dominate United and Liverpool is fantasy. It's not going to happen."
  
  Arsenal may have more realistic hopes of competing with the two most successful clubs in English history, especially as they have emerged as Britain's richest club. However, outside of England there are also plenty of candidates to rival the quest to be the global brand leader.
  
  The obvious names are Real Madrid, Barcelona and from Italy AC Milan and Juventus, but how do they all compare with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool?

  but I say Manchester United IS the biggest brand in football today, with Real Madrid and Liverpool coming in a close second and third.

  though its hard to admit, but man U seemed to be the most famous club in the world. My mom knows who is david beckham, but have no idea what Real Madrid is(she though Madrid as in just a place in Spain). But she knew Man U but not its players. Quite contradictory right?

  Man U the club famous since my grandfather's time(Yesterday) till my son's time (Today).That is if you are really talking about brand.Otherwise Tampines Rovers is just as good any other team

  cannot be. Manutd isnt as famous as liverpool before the 90s.

  I picked United not just because of its long football history and the many great legendary players who played there but also because Manchester United has become a household name especially in Thailand/Malaysia/Singapore-

  lol.. Liverpool was THE English club of the 80s, while Man Utd overtook them in the 90s till now.

  Before Arsenal get too uppity, though, a survey by BBDO Consulting has calculated the “brand value” of Europe’s football clubs and the top two places are a lockout for Spain. Although the values are little more than a marketing exercise, they demonstrate what the accountants think.
  
  Real Madrid are top, valued at a shade more than €1 billion (about £696 million), with Barcelona second at €948 million. Manchester United are third with a notional value of €922 million, followed by Chelsea at €828 million, although these calculations were before the José Mourinho debacle.
  
  Arsenal come in eighth at €712 million and Liverpool are tenth, with their brand value calculated at €645 million.
