Real Madrid director Pedrag Mijatovic has revealed they were scared off signing Michael Ballack by Chelsea being too keen to sell.
Mijatovic insists Ballack’s proposed move to the Bernabeu was scrapped because the player’s agent demanded a massive £1m commission.
But the Real director also insists his suspicions were raised about Ballack, 31, because Chelsea did not offer any resistance to losing the German.
Mijatovic said: “We were interested in Ballack even though he’s still injured. But the way Chelsea made everything so easy for us scared me.
“In the summer we couldn’t reach a financial agreement with his agent because of what he wanted to earn — £1m.”
