Andy Johnson could be on his way out of Everton after going to see David Moyes last week to seek assurances over his future.
And his heart-to-heart with the boss has alerted Tottenham, Valencia, West Ham and Manchester City, who have been monitoring his situation.
Johnson, 26, has not scored since March and was dropped last week for the UEFA Cup clash against Metalist Kharkiv. He earned a late reprieve when Mikel Arteta was injured, but missed two penalties and failed to register again in Sunday's defeat by Aston Villa.
Johnson went to see Moyes on Monday and was told there could be no assurances while the drought continues and the forward feared he would be dropped against Middlesbrough he was listed as doubtful with a groin injury.
City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is very keen, having worked with the striker with England. Spurs are also hopeful, although any move would hinge on Martin Jol staying put, while the Hammers had a bid rejected in the summer.
