Ref forced to run from hate mob

Referee Danny McDermid and his two assistants had to run for their lives after angry Leeds fans turned on them at Elland Road yesterday.
McDermid clashed with Leeds boss Dennis Wise at the end of a high-octane 1-1 draw with Gillingham then fans turned on the officials, forcing them to sprint to safety down the tunnel.
Wise confronted McDermid after he sent off two Leeds players - Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford, before Gillingham snatched a late equaliser.
