  Liverpool are lining up a deal for Hamilton Accies babe James McCarthy - and plan to sign the Republic of Ireland prospect at the end of the season.
  
  McCarthy is being watched by Anfield spies after he impressed Rafa Benitez in a short trial a few months ago.
  
  Benitez told McCarthy to stay with the Scottish League One side just now and get more experience rather than join the Kop's army of young hopefuls in the reserves and youth set-ups.
  
  And Liverpool have monitored him ever since, with one of their top scouts watching him as his table-topping side played at the weekend.
  
  McCarthy has helped surprise side Accies have a great start to the campaign, but he seems destined for Merseyside before much longer.
