Milan are preparing to tempt former Lazio goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi out of retirement as a replacement for the under-fire Nelson Dida.
The Brazilian shot-stopper has been in dreadful form all season and made another two howlers during the 2-1 defeat to Celtic in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Milan hierarchy, who only offered Dida a fresh four-year contract worth €4m a season during the summer, are believed to have had enough with the Brazilian’s form and are lining up replacements.
The Gazzetta dello Sport are claiming that an immediate solution could be Angelo Peruzzi who retired in the summer. The 37-year-old, who had an illustrious career playing for the likes of Juventus, Inter and Lazio, would be available to play in Serie A immediately as he could be signed outside of the transfer window.
Another option could be to recall Cristian Abbiati from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid. This may suit both parties as Abbiati is not even a first-team regular at the Vicente Calderon. Other keepers to be linked with the Rossoneri include Sebastien Frey of Fiorentina and Artur Boruc of Celtic.
