Former Blackburn and Spurs midfielder Tim Sherwood believes Nicolas Anelka is the man to re-establish Chelsea's title challenge.
Speaking on "Macca's Monday Night" football show, Sherwood, Blackburn's captain when they won the Premiership title in 1995, said he thought Anelka would provide the pace and scoring prowess to help Chelsea challenge Manchester United for the title.
"I would not be surprised if Anelka is a Chelsea man come the new year," Sherwood said on Setanta Sports 1.
"I think Man United have sorted it out now, theyÂ’ve got enough strikers.
"Shevchenko is never going to turn into a 20-goal-a-season striker now – it’s finished for him now.
"I think AnelkaÂ’s the man. Get Anelka and itÂ’ll give Chelsea a real real boost."
Chelsea are currently seven points behind leaders Arsenal, and have played one game more than the unbeaten Gunners.
