  Exactly, and he is someone who needs protection from his defensive midfielders in Gattuso & Ambrosini to do the dirty work. At least, he is more consistent when the crunch comes.

  If you really wanna be strict about the definition of the trequarista,Pirlo is not one. He plays in front of the defence,not behind the strikers.Though this positionis usually called anchorman or the Makelele role,Pirlo has limited defensive capabilities-he needs Gattuso to cover his ass.
