Bundesliga Re-introduces Promotion/ Relegation Play-Off

The German Football Federation (Deutsche Fußball Bund) has decided to change its system of promotion and relegation from the 2008-2009 season onwards.
Instead of three teams up, and three down at the end of the season, the team finishing third in the second division will face a two-legged play-off against the side third from bottom in the Bundesliga.
The winner will feature in the top division in the following season.
The rule, which was last used in 1991, also applies to movement of clubs between the second and third divisions. -
