Liverpool's Champions League future is on the line... With only one point from two games, Liverpool are in danger of ending up in the UEFA Cup less than five months after being European Cup runners-up.
Liverpool are without Spain striker Fernando Torres, who has failed to shake off a calf injury and is now being nursed through the week in preparation for Sunday's visit of Premier League leaders Arsenal to Anfield.
Full-back Alvaro Arbeloa was also ruled out with a thigh injury, while Daniel Agger has not fully recovered from a broken metatarsal. But midfield playmaker Xabi Alonso having recovered from a similar injury could well play against the Turks, who won at Trabzonspor to move to second in their league last weekend.
Turkish side Besiktas isn't a bad team and if Liverpool don't play like Liverpool... Then they can say hello to the UEFA Cup...
Pool should also hope for Marseille to beat FC Porto tonight cos they still have to go to France whereas Porto will still need to come to Anfield... -
DUO TO MISS OUT FOR CHELSEA
Chelsea are still without captain John Terry (knee) and left-back Ashley Cole (ankle) for their Champions League Group B game against Schalke at Stamford Bridge.
Terry underwent surgery on his left knee last Friday and is out for up to three weeks, while Cole is sidelined with ankle ligament damage. Michael Ballack is the only other long-term absentee as he continues his recovery from two ankle operations, while Wayne Bridge has returned to the squad.

Tonight they meet a FC Schalke 04 side unbeaten away from home this season in the Bundesliga and looking to build on their Matchday 2 victory against Rosenborg.

Welcome to Istanbul where Beºiktaº JK and Liverpool FC meet both needing victory to get their UEFA Champions League campaigns back on track. Spanish champions Real Madrid CF and their Greek counterparts Olympiacos CFP have both collected four points from their opening two Group C games and will be looking to preserve unbeaten records tonight. Matchday 2 was a particularly memorable one for Olympiacos, after ending their 31-game wait for a UEFA Champions League away win against Werder Bremen, although they have been beaten on nine of their previous eleven trips to Spain.

technically now Milan playing with no real striker. Kaka and Seedorf making up a temporary strike force but they are essentially midfielders.
