Chelsea chase United's transfer target

Chelsea are ready to rival Manchester United in the race to land Bayern Munich's highly-rated right-back Willy Sagnol. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has made Sagnol his number one transfer target for the January transfer window but faces strong competition from the Blues along with AC Milan.
Sagnol is understood to prefer a move to London which gives The Blues the edge as they seek a replacement for Paulo Ferreira, who is tipped to move on in the summer.
The French World Cup winner is determined to quit the Bundesliga and earn himself one last massive pay day before retiring and Chelsea are favourites to land him. -
Doubt Sagnol will move to EPL.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy being the most famous. It was reported that Arsenal had targetted him earlier before Man U. In the end, Arsenal did not manage to meet PSV asking price and let come the rich Man U.
Still got a few targets who did not transfer to either Arsenal or Man U. -
For RVN wad i tot is that Man Utd wanted to sign RVN right after he was scouted in Heerenveen, but PSV snooped fast on him alrdy. Then immediately after his 1st season in PSV he failed a medical..so drag on quite abit.
I think this scenario of who hijacking who is quite hard to determine. Normally tabloids will spice things up with "whoever whoever has been targetted by top clubs in Europe, with clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool vying for his signature" Again 2-3 season ago it was rumoured that Chelsea are trying to hijack United's targets like Park and even bidded for Saha so that United couldn get their players. Oh well..
I can still rmb one of Real Madrid's directors made quite a blatant remark though, when he said that since they couldn sign Wenger as their manager he will target whoever Arsenal and Wenger is buying
