Atletico Madrid have increased the get-out clause in striker Sergio Aguero's contract to €55m (£40m).
The 19-year-old Argentina international - described as 'one of the greats of world football' by his club - joined Atletico in 2006 for €20m (£14.7m), and had a mixed first season.
However, he has been in excellent form this season and his club have decided to increase his get-out clause from €36m (£26.5m), which will last until his contract expires in 2012.
Aguero receives no increase to his basic salary as a result of the change but gains enhanced image rights, and the player is happy to commit to the club for the foreseeable future.
"Atletico is a very big club and I feel at home," he said.
"I want to stay here for many years and help (the team) achieve something important."
