Chelsea manager Avram Grant is reportedly planning a bid for Reading striker Kevin Doyle.
According to The Independent newspaper, Republic of Ireland striker Kevin Doyle has been watched by Chelsea, with manager Avram Grant apparently regarding the Reading man as worth trying to lure to Stamford Bridge.
Doyle, 24, is said to fit the profile for players that Grant wants at Chelsea.
The Irishman proved himself at Premier League level with the Royals last season.
Chelsea's buying strategy is also said to emphasise bringing in British and Irish players in the long term.
Doyle signed a new deal a year ago designed to keep him at Reading until 2010, though Chelsea would not be deterred by the likely cost of around £8million to buy that contract out and take the striker to west London.
