CHELSEA fear John Terry could miss the rest of the season with his troublesome ankle injury.
That is why boss Avram Grant moved so quickly to land Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic in an £8.9million deal.
Terry has had no problems so far in his recovery from the three broken bones in his right foot.
But the injury Terry suffered at Arsenal last month is extremely delicate. And Chelsea fear that if the healing process is not handled with expert precision, it could even rule their skipper out for the rest of the campaign.
Grant signed Ivanovic from Lokomotiv Moscow and also wants Nicolas Anelka, Dimitar Berbatov and Russia midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov in a £50m January spree.
But only ONE of the quartet would be eligible for the Champions League because they have appeared in this seasonÂ’s UEFA Cup.
