Newspaper reports in Spain suggest that Bolton have lined up Real Madrid forward Javier Saviola to replace Nicolas Anelka, should he leave the club in January.
Bolton manager Gary Megson has been searching across European for suitable replacement for the Frenchmen and has told his chairman Phil Gartside that Saviola is the man he wants.
Gartside is unwilling to enter into negotiations with Real until an offer has been accepted for Anelka, but Megson has apparently enquired as to the possibility of buying Saviola even if Anelka stays.
Saviola only joined Los Merengues this summer on a free transfer from Barcelona, but has struggled to establish himself in the first team squad.
He has stated in recent weeks that he is perfectly happy at the club, but having not even made the starting lineup for their mid-week Copa del Rey tie with Alicante, the Argentine forward must be starting to wonder if he will ever break into Bernd Schuster's plans.
