The Sheffield United boss has opened talks with Ehiogu about signing him on a free transfer from Rangers.
Robson has turned to the former England and Middlesbrough defender after being priced out of a move for Aston VillaÂ’s Gary Cahill.
Ehiogu joined Rangers 12 months ago but has been restricted to just 12 appearances and is out in the cold this season.
WIGAN are set to complete the signing of Swedish defender Erik Edman for around £500,000.
The former Tottenham man, 29, flew in yesterday to talk about a switch from Rennes.
Edman is likely to pen a 2½-year deal and could make his debut against Everton on Sunday.
