Steve Sidwell is reportedly prepared to snub Sunderland's loan offer and gamble on the chance that Everton will come in for him. Sidwell moved from Reading to Chelsea on a free transfer last summer but has found his first-team chances extremely limited due to Chelsea's array of talented midfielders. Sunderland and Chelsea were believed to have reached an agreement for Sidwell to join the Black Cats on loan for the rest of the season but reports suggest today on Merseyside that Sidwell will reject the offer from the north-east.
David Moyes has shown interest in Sidwell before and needs some back-up to his squad following a number of departures for the African Cup Of Nations. His situation isn't helped by the fact that he is probably going to lose James McFadden and Thomas Gravesen soon as they both want first-team football.
But the fact that Chelsea have a several players absent through injury and the African Cup of Nations means they will be reluctant to let Sidwell leave before the end of month.
