Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie has publicly put Sol Campbell in his place following the defender's recent comments. Sol Campbell questioned the club's transfer policy, claiming the lack of transfers would harm Pompey's chances of finishing in a UEFA Cup spot.Storrie has told the former Arsenal defender to 'concentrate on playing' and stop making 'silly statements'. Campbell's comments are particularly strange as Portsmouth have spent more money this season than in any other.
Storrie told The News: "We don't talk about how the players play, so they shouldn't talk about the money the club has spent.
"How can someone like Sol go around and keep saying these things? We are one of the top spenders in The Premier League. "We are puzzled as to why he keeps making these statements and comments."
Ironically, Portsmouth are splashing out £5.5 million on Arsenal midfielder Lassana Diarra, with the French international expected to have a medical today.
