Lyon hoping to sign Boumsong as defensive cover

Lyon are hoping to sign former Newcastle defender Jean-Alain Boumsong from Juventus on loan for the rest of the season.
The Ligue 1 leaders are short of defensive cover after Brazilian Cleber Anderson was ruled out for six months with a serious knee injury.
Les Gones certainly looked fragile on Sunday night as they crashed to a 3-0 defeat at relegation strugglers Lens.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is now hoping to lure the France international back to his homeland during the January transfer window.
He told the club's television channel: "It is necessary for us to replace Cleber Anderson.
"We are in advanced talks with a French defender who plays for Juventus but as things are not yet signed we cannot confirm it.
"We hope that the business is concluded quickly, ideally at the start of this week." -

*Boumsong seals Lyon switch*
Lyon have finalised the signing of Jean-Alain Boumsong from Juventus on a three-and-a-half year contract.
Boumsong's switch to the French champions had been held up while Juve sought to secure a replacement.
The former Rangers and Newcastle defender expressed his frustration that he had been unable to complete his transfer.
But, though Juventus have yet to bring in a new centre-half, the Italian club have allowed the deal to go through.
Juventus have accepted a fee of 3million euros (£2.2million) for Boumsong, who moved to Turin from Newcastle in 2006.
He becomes Lyon's third signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of Marc Crosas and Cesar Delgado.
Lyon had been in the market for a new stopper after an injury to Cleber Anderson compounded the club's defensive problems. -
