Frank Lampard is out of Wednesday's Carling Cup semi-final second leg against Everton after tearing his thigh muscle again in training.
Chelsea coach Avram Grant was hoping that Lampard would have been fit enough to return but instead he confirmed the England midfielder could be out for a further fortnight as a result of his latest setback.
Chelsea are also without captain John Terry (foot) and Andriy Shevchenko (back) but Shaun Wright-Phillips trained on Tuesday and could be in the squad despite hurting his ankle in the league win over Birmingham.
Grant said: "All I can say about his (Lampard's) injury is that he is not available for the moment but we hope he will be soon as possible. It is a little bit more complicated than we thought.
"But I think he will be back soon. He has torn his thigh muscle for a second time and I think it could be between days or two weeks from now."
