JUANDE RAMOS has turned to Argentina star Ezequiel Garay to plug TottenhamÂ’s leaky defence.
Spurs want to hijack Liverpool’s bid for the £10million-rated centre-half.
Garay, 21, plays for Racing Santander and is widely regarded as one of the best rising stars in Spain.
Set-piece wizard
Kop boss Rafa Benitez has been tracking Garay for months but Ramos hopes to cash in on the turbulent times at Anfield and complete a dramatic swoop.
Garay is a set-piece wizard and scored nine goals last season from deadball moves.
Ramos has improved Spurs’ defending in recent weeks but the club has still conceded 21 goals at home in the league — the worst record, along with Fulham — in the top flight.
He had also hoped to lure unsettled Chelsea defender Tal Ben Haim across London as his first signing but has encountered stiff resistance from the Blues.
