Gary Megson has confirmed he is working on a bid to bring Eidur Gudjohnsen back to Bolton Wanderers on loan.
Gudjohnsen has struggled to make a sustained impact at Barcelona since joining the Spanish titans in 2006 from Chelsea.
He has repeatedly been linked with a return to the Premier League, with the likes of Newcastle United and West Ham United put forward as admirers.
But going back to the Reebok Stadium is also an option after Bolton boss Megson revealed his hope to sign the Iceland international.
"It's something we've looked at to see if we can do it," Megson told reporters.
"Eidur's a big ask, but if it suits everybody, we'd like to do it. He's the type of player we're looking for to help us get out of our situation.
"It's one of those where you need to be lucky.
"We've got people working for us to see if it's a goer and we'll keep going right until the transfer window closes."
Gudjohnsen first joined Bolton in 1998 and spent two years with the club before moving to Chelsea in a £5million transfer.
