FERNANDO TORRES has been hailed as the world’s greatest striker — by arguably the world’s greatest player.
Liverpool captain Steve Gerrard insisted he would not change the Kop No 9 for any other forward. Torres took his season’s tally to 25 goals by scoring in the 3-0 Premier League win over Newcastle on Saturday.
Gerrard, 27, said: “I wouldn’t swap him for any other striker in the world at the moment. “He’s brilliant, fantastic and has been massive. Fernando gives us so many different things up front. Because he is a goalscorer, that’s where he is going to be judged.
“He is banging them in and always looks a threat everywhere he plays. “You can stick him on his own — or with a partner — and he just adapts perfectly.” Torres, 23 next week, has looked a snip since signing for £21.5m from Atletico Madrid last summer. And Gerrard thinks he has set a new benchmark for foreign players coming to England. He admitted: “Fernando has certainly made life tough for the foreign boys who come over here now.
“When you look at the impact he has made in about seven months here, it means no one can make excuses about taking time to settle. “I actually think England suits him better than Spain. “He is better suited to the flow and rough and tumble of the Premier League than the stop-start technical La Liga.
“In footballing terms, he is just a kid really and is going to get better and better.
“He’s big and strong and his head is in the right place, too.
“He will only improve in the future, which is great news for Liverpool and Spain.”

I think he's gonna break Van Nistelrooy's record.
Most goals in first season for a foreigner.

Nope.
He is after 5 season if he perform consistently and score winning goals.
Now, it is still early to say.
Just like saying Liverpool will win the BPL title at the beginning of the season.
He is still far off.
Rooney and ronaldo are the possible candidates at the moment.
only if he can be as consistent as alan shearer.
But I do feel that this Torres is really a very good finisher or the ball... But first season is still hard to say but he is showing good shooting skill with pace...
